RELIGION

The Catholic faith is an important part of the curriculum at G. A. School.  Religion is part of the daily schedule.  A formal Religion class is held three times a week on the days the students do not attend Mass.  Mass is held on Wednesdays for grades 5-8, Thursdays for grades K-4 and on Fridays for grades 1-8.  The students take an active part in preparing the liturgies: doing the readings, song leading, and playing the organ at the school Masses.

The sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion are taught and received in second grade.  In eighth grade the sacrament of Confirmation is taught and received.  All sacrament programs involve parent meetings and parent participation in the preparation.  The family and school work together to prepare the child for the sacrament.

The students also experience their faith by having daily prayer at the beginning of the school day, before lunch and at the end of the day.  It is also a tradition at Guardian Angels School for each class to pray a decade of the rosary together each day.

Religion is integrated throughout the entire school day in all aspects of the day.  Being a Catholic school, we talk about God in science class, reading, and other subject areas; especially when working on the self-discipline of a child and other opportunities that will benefit the child.
